India Post, Ministry of Communications has released
the official recruitment notification (No. 17-37/2025-GDS) for the
engagement of 28,740 Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) as Branch Postmaster
(BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevaks in various
circles across the country. This is a massive opportunity for 10th Pass
candidates to secure a government engagement without a written exam.
Interested and eligible candidates can apply online through

31, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria |
Candidates must meet the following eligibility conditions as
of the last date of application:
1. Educational Qualification
- Secondary
School Examination (10th Class) pass certificate with passing marks in
Mathematics and English from a recognized Board.
- Local
Language: Must have studied the local language of the applied Circle
at least up to 10th Standard.
2. Age Limit (as on 14.02.2026)
- Minimum
Age: 18 Years.
- Maximum
Age: 40 Years.
- Age
Relaxation:
- SC/ST:
5 Years.
- OBC:
3 Years.
- PwD:
10 Years.
3. Other Qualifications
- Knowledge
of Computer.
- Knowledge
of Cycling.
- Adequate
means of livelihood.

Selection Process |
The selection will be made as per the System Generated
Merit List based on the marks obtained in the 10th Standard (Secondary
School Examination).
- No
Written Exam: There will be no written test or interview.
- Grades
to Marks: For boards giving grades/CGPA, conversion to marks will be
done using a multiplication factor (e.g., 9.5).

Click on "Registration" and enter your Mobile Number and Email
ID for OTP verification.
- Fill
Application: Log in with the Registration Number and fill in personal
details, address, and 10th Class marks.
- Choose
Preferences: Select the Division and exercise your post preferences.
- Upload
Documents: Upload a recent Passport Photo and Signature (JPG format,
max 50KB/20KB).
- Pay
Fee: Pay Rs. 100/- online (if applicable).
- Print
Application: Submit the form and take a printout for future reference.

Q1: Can I apply for multiple circles?
Ans: No, a candidate can apply for only one
Division in any one Circle.
Q2: Is there any exam for GDS 2026?
Ans: No, selection is purely based on 10th Class
marks.
Q3: Can 12th pass or Graduates apply?
Ans: Yes, but the selection will be based ONLY
on 10th Class marks. Higher qualifications carry no weightage.
Q4: Is it a permanent government job?
Ans: This is an engagement as Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS),
which is a government service but distinct from regular central government
employees (Civil Servants).
