How to Apply for SSC GD Constable 2026: Step-by-Step Guide (New Website Process)

A complete guide to the SSC GD 2026 online application process on ssc.gov.in. Learn about the One-Time Registration (OTR), Live Photo upload rules, and application fees.

Introduction The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially started the online registration for the SSC GD Constable Recruitment 2026. With 25,487 vacancies on the line, it is crucial to fill out the form correctly. Note: The SSC has moved to a new website (ssc.gov.in). Your old registration number from ssc.nic.in will NOT work. You must register afresh.

1. Important Prerequisites (Keep These Ready)

Before you start, ensure you have the following:

  • Aadhaar Card (for instant verification).
  • Matriculation (10th) Marksheet (for Roll No. and Year of Passing).
  • Scanned Signature: JPEG format, size between 10 KB to 20 KB. Dimensions: approx 6.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height).
  • Active Mobile No. & Email ID (for OTP verification).
  • Webcam/Smartphone: Required for capturing the Live Photo.

2. Step-by-Step Application Process

The process is divided into two parts: One-Time Registration (OTR) and the Application Form.

Part A: One-Time Registration (OTR)

If you have already registered on the new ssc.gov.in site for a previous exam (like CGL/MTS 2024), skip to Part B.

  1. Visit the Official Website: Go to https://ssc.gov.in.
  2. Click on 'Login or Register': Select "Register Now".
  3. Personal Details: Enter your Aadhaar Number, Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, and Date of Birth exactly as they appear in your 10th Class Certificate.
  4. Matriculation Details: Enter your Board Name, Roll Number, and Year of Passing.
  5. Contact Verification: Enter your Mobile Number and Email ID. You will receive separate OTPs on both. Verify them.
  6. Registration ID: Once verified, you will receive a Registration Number and Password on your mobile/email.
  7. Login & Password Change: Login with these credentials and immediately change your password to something secure.
  8. Additional Details: Fill in your Category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/UR), Nationality, and Address.

Part B: Filling the Online Application Form

  1. Login: Go to ssc.gov.in and log in with your Registration Number and new Password.
  2. Select Exam: Under "Live Examinations", find "Constable (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs)... Examination, 2026" and click "Apply".
  3. Auto-Filled Data: Your basic details (Name, Age, etc.) will be auto-filled from your OTR.
  4. Ex-Servicemen & Age Relaxation:
    • Select "Yes" if you are an Ex-Serviceman (ESM).
    • Select "Yes" if you seek Age Relaxation (e.g., OBC - 3 years, SC/ST - 5 years).
  5. NCC Certificate: If you hold an NCC 'A', 'B', or 'C' certificate, select "Yes" to claim bonus marks (2%, 3%, or 5%).
  6. Exam Centre Preference: Choose 3 centres in order of preference (e.g., 1. Patna, 2. Muzaffarpur, 3. Ranchi).
  7. State of Domicile: Select your permanent State and District carefully. Warning: You must produce a Domicile Certificate for this specific district during Document Verification.
