Ishan Uday Scholarship 2025 – Submit Online Application
Ishan Uday is a special scholarship scheme launched by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the students of the North Eastern Region (NER) to promote higher education and for encouraging children belonging to the economically weaker sections of the NE region. A total of 10,000 fresh scholarships are disbursed every year.

Objective of Ishan Uday Scholarship
The objectives of the Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme for the North Eastern Region are:
- To provide equal opportunities for higher studies in the NE Region.
- To increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in the NE Region.
- To focus more on professional education in the NE Region.
- Optimum utilization of the NER Budgetary Allocation.
Eligibility Criteria of Ishan Uday Scholarship
Who can apply?
- Students with a valid Domicile Certificate of any State of the North-Eastern Region (NER).
- Students who have secured admission in the first year of any degree course (general, technical, or professional).
- The annual parental income of the student should not exceed Rs. 4.5 lakh.
Type of Educational Institutes
The scholarship is available for pursuing UG degree programs in UGC-recognized institutions, Deemed Universities, Institutes of National Importance, and institutions recognized by other Statutory councils.
Exclusions of Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme
The following shall not be eligible under this scheme:
- Students pursuing courses through Open Universities or distance/private mode.
- Students already availing of another scholarship for an Undergraduate program.
- Students who gained admission through the ‘management quota’.
- Students pursuing Diploma Courses not leading to the award of a Degree.
- Students whose parents’ annual income exceeds Rs. 4.5 lakh.
How to Apply for Ishan Uday Scholarship?
Candidates need to visit the official National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at https://scholarships.gov.in to submit their online application. Follow the steps below:
- Scroll down and go to the "Important Web-Links" section.
- Click on the "One-Time Registration" link to register yourself. A unique 14-digit OTR number will be generated.
- After registration, click on the "Online Application Form" link and log in.
- Enter all your credentials and upload your documents as required.
- Finally, click on "Submit" and take a printout of your submitted application.
